Gulbarga Airport

 Project Overview

Infrastructure Development Department (IDD), Government of Karnataka selected a consortium of IL&FS Engineering Services, NCC Infrastructure Holdings Ltd (NCC) and VIE India Project Development and Holding LLC (VIE) to develop and operate the airport proposed at Gulbarga on a BOT basis. This would be a green field project under Public-Private-Partnership (PPP).

A Special Purpose Company (SPC) has been established to sign the Project Development Agreement (PDA) with IDD, Government of Karnataka. The PDA was signed April 3, 2008. The Shareholding pattern of IL&FS Engineering Services, NCC and VIE will be 37%, 37% and 26% respectively in the SPC. The company has already identified consultants to take up preparation of detailed studies, and has built up a team to secure all clearances required for the project.

 Cost and Timeline
The Construction Period is 24 months from the date of signing the agreement and the Concession Period is 30 years. The concession shall at the option of Consortium be extended for a further period of 30 years.

The project will induce an all round development in the region and lead to upgradation of facilities including better road connectivity, facilities for VIP movements, construction of hotels, convention centers, business, corporate and technology parks, recreation facilities etc. This 360 degree development will improve the lifestyle of the cities along with generating huge employment opportunities.
